Another Trip, another Life

Next week I’m heading back to Germany to visit my family and reconnect with my home country. It’s become clear over the past 25 years that I must see, feel, smell my roots on a regular basis to avoid serious bouts of homesickness.

We’ll bike, walk, hike, ride boats and the train, drive my father’s twenty-plus year old station wagon. We’ll eat fifteen-hundred different foods, try new wines, the house special of a mom and pop winemaker, we’d never find in the stores here. We’ll meet old friends we’ve known for 40 years.

Best of all we’ll see my father, my daughter and my sister, nephews and brother-in-law. Family is what it’s all about.
